Inter Milan lost more ground in the race to finish second in Serie A after they slumped to their third successive defeat when they were beaten 1-0 by Fiorentina on Saturday.
“There is a great disappointment, we lost two consecutive home matches. We need to work more, starting with me,” Inter manager Simone Inzaghi told DAZN. “Fiorentina are a quality squad, the lads did all they could. It’s just like this at the moment, we need to be more determined because we had so many chances to score and we should’ve taken them.”
Giacomo Bonaventura was in the right place after a rebound from a corner and headed the ball into the net from close range to give Fiorentina the lead after 53 minutes.
Juventus needed a second-half goal by striker Moise Kean to seal a 1-0 home win over Hellas Verona and stay in the hunt for a top-six finish and a place in Europe.
Lois Openda struck in the first half as RC Lens claimed a 1-0 win at Stade Rennais to leapfrop Olympique de Marseille into second place in the Ligue 1 standings on Saturday.
The Belgium striker found the back of the net for the 15th time this season in the league to put the northerners on 60 points from 29 games, ahead of Marseille on goal difference.
